Plastic pollution and bioaccumulation within organisms are growing problems. As part of a study of microplastics pollution that played out over several years, the Jumby Bay Hawksbill Project contributed sand samples from our hawksbill nesting beach in Antigua to serve as one reference point amongst hundreds of beaches from around the world. The article presenting the work was published in March 2025 and represents the culmination of a truly unique, global collaboration. So, a big shout out to Dr. Zara Botterell (from the University of Exeter) for spearheading the work. From the JBHP, Dr. Seth Stapleton and Liz Brammer-Robbins also contributed to the piece, joining an author list with >100 collaborators.
